Objectives

Sir Edward “Weary” Dunlop once said:

“The impact of the stress and strain of war upon the physical and mental health of veterans and upon ageing processes is a vital area of research, with ultimately immense application to the community as a whole.”

In taking up this challenge from Weary, and improving the health and wellbeing of those who served and their dependants, the Objectives of the Weary Dunlop Foundation are to do everything necessary:

  • to promote medical research into conditions prevalent among ex-servicemen and women and their families;
  • to develop the nation’s medical research capability by supporting new and emerging researchers; and
  • to commemorate the outstanding qualities of Sir Edward Dunlop in educating contemporary Australia about his high personal standards, his courage and his commitment to serving humanity.
